Internships are available on a continuous basis in their U.S. office in Washington DC, each requiring a commitment of three months or more for 15-40 hours per week. If their goals and mission look interesting to you, please send a resume and a cover letter to their office stating which internship(s) you would like, the exact dates that you could begin and end your internship, and the number of hours of service per week that you could give.
In selecting interns, a competitive process, they look for relevant experience and seriousness of commitment, based on the length of service and weekly time commitment proposed. Graduate students and seniors are favored over sophomores and juniors, other things being equal. Nationals of the developing world are especially encouraged to apply, as are those with experience in the developing world. French and Spanish language capability is a plus.
They are a nonprofit organization committed to social change in Africa and Mexico through grassroots volunteer efforts. They are unable to offer a stipend, however they offer the opportunity to take responsibility for a project in your area of interest enabling you to gain valuable skills that can aid you in your future endeavors. They are able to offer advice in finding housing in the DC area and give you tips on finding a part-time job as well. They also give you a USD1,000 credit towards the Visions in Action overseas program fee, should you decide to participate in one of their long term overseas programs.
