Vital Voices Global Partnership is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women engaged in building participatory democracies, stronger economies, and defending human rights.
The Global Leadership Network of Vital Voices is looking to select an intern for the summer semester of 2006. This is an unpaid internship and requires a commitment of 30-40 hours per week.
Vital Voices is currently planning programs for Latin America and Africa. As the intern will play an integral role in these projects, an interest in Africa or Latin America as well as Spanish language skills are encouraged.
The position supports the Director of the Global Leadership Network. Intern responsibilities primarily include research on issues that affect women in countries around the world, for the purposes of proposal writing, event planning, and the publication of the Vital Voices quarterly newsletter, the Global Network News.
Interns are also responsible for compiling daily news briefings, as well as providing logistical support for Vital Voices training sessions. Some administrative tasks are required and interns are encouraged to attend various conferences and events in which Vital Voices participates. Vital Voices is unable to offer financial support for its interns, however, interns can receive academic credit for their internship with the cooperation with their university.
An internship with Vital Voices is a unique opportunity to learn about global women’s issues while also learning about current trends and best practices in international women’s advocacy.
